Tenacious D - "Live @ Brixton Academy" (2002)

I'm on a total Tenacious D high at the moment, hope you don't mind. They killed on the Nerdist podcast recently, they got a new killer album coming out, and I've been rocking both albums and both DVDs like a muddafugga.

Their first DVD, The Complete Masterworks, was released in 2003 and contained all six 15 minute episodes (or all three half hour episodes, depending on how you look at it) of their HBO show, music videos and documentaries and a live concert taped at London's Brixton Academy on November 3rd 2002 whilst touring the world on the back of their phenomenal selftitled debut album. It's one the most watched DVDs in my collection of a thousand or so DVDs. Not to brag or nuthin.

That Brixton Academy show is what I'm offering you to download today. It's an hour and two minutes of tits.

Refused - Live @ Coachella 2012

The Refused reunion tour seems to be coming along nicely. It's nice that they're playing big festival arenas to allow for as many people as possible to see them, but Refused was never meant for arenas and I can't help but find it illfitting.

Refused was always a band meant for smaller stages, playing unpredictable equipment that would break down when no one expected it, only inches away from rabid punk rockers and stage divers. Like here and here.

But while I found the Coachella gig footage underwhelming (you can find it on YouTube), I must say it sounded great. This is clearly a band on fire having a great time. Not having to see the band struggle to fill a huge stage to entertain a few thousand hipsters, and instead just enjoying the sweet sounds coming out of the speakers is a pleasant experience.

The D, motherfuckers! THE D!!! My favorite part of their self proclaimed moniker "the best band in the world" is how accurate it is.

Rage Kage and Jaybles stopped by the Nerdist Podcast headquarters for a nearly 90 minute long interview with Chris Hardwick and the other two dudes whose names I can't bother to remember. An extraordinary listen, especially towards the end when they busted out their guitars and played two songs from their upcoming and undoubtedly fucking incredible album Rize of the Fenix, as well as two requests from the hosts - Double Team and a cover of the Star Trek theme.
