Channel Zero have never really interested me, they always seemed kinda boring. Not great, not horrible, just trudging along rather blandly in the middle of the road. But the song Guns of Navarone from their new album Feed 'Em With A Brick knocked me flat on my ass.
With a powerful, punchy production the song just kind of bounces and pounds at you in a thoroughly satisfying manner. In this day and age of djent/metalcore/deathcore/crabcore with a hundred tempo changes a minute, entire songs built on breakdowns, and guitarists making tweedly deedly noises at the speed of light (which they think counts as guitar solos), it's refreshing to hear a modern metal band who takes cues from the likes of Metallica and Pantera.
I'm probably overselling the song now - it's nothing revolutionary by any means, it's just nice to hear a simple, heavy riff with a solid groove for a change, y'know. Too bad the rest of the album isn't as exciting.

Speaking of heavyness, how fucking bass-y is the new Cave In album? Holy shit, the low-end is so rumbling that my speakers vibrate over to the other side of the room if I crank it up too much. Love it!
Here's a track from that one too, just for the hell of it:
