This song leaked on Monday after iTunes UK put it up for sale too early. I've been listening to it for pretty much 48 hours straight. The verdict? Total tits. Random thoughts:
1. Brent's best vocals of his career. The almost Chris Cornell-like voice he uses for the "Fire in the eye" part is godly.
2. He will never pull these vocals off live.
3. Troy does a nice job with the chorus. He has a better chance of pulling it off.
4. The solo officially melted my nut. The banjo intro melted the other one.
5. Since this song was chosen to be the single, that can only mean that this is only the tip of the iceberg and the album (Crack The Skye, released March 9th) will be even more proggy and fucked up. Me likes.
6. The cover is the coolest thing in the history of everything. A Russian Rasputin wizard in space with four bears on a leash shooting green lasers from his eyes?
The ultimate fucking win.

Divinations sounds killer. Too bad the Mastodon website only contains a small piece of the song.
Fucking sweet. Sounds quite different, but definitely like Mastodon. If this album hadn't been firmly in my top 10 2009-released albums of "Have to fucking buy," it would be now.
